How to Build a Glasshouse - Awnings

Framework for awning should be diagonally braced at corner. Braces should be let in flush with top of frame; nail 50mm x 25mm (2in x 1m) laths to frame leaving approximately 50mm (2in) gap between each slat. Fix each awning with three substantial hinges to A-frame. Awning supports are made from lengths of 12mm (12m) diameter steel reinforcing rods with steel yokes welded to one end. These yokes are slotted to fit over locating bolts in framework of awning; foot of supports are located in short lengths of steel tubing inserted into concrete floor.

Pot plant display benches, not shown on drawings, are constructed with 75mm x 50mm (3in x 2in) framing and covered with 75mm x 25mm (3in x 1in) battens. Legs made of 75mm x 50mm (3in x 2in) timber are nailed to bench framing.
